My husband and I flying out of England back to the US from the Manchester Airport. We plan on driving to Manchester Airport from Ambleside in the Lakes District on a Monday morning, and need to be at the airport by 8:30 or 9am. The drive is technically 2 hours, but will we encounter additional commuter traffic on a Monday morning, coming from the Lakes District?

I've never seen traffic problems on the ring road. Allow a bit of time to top off the tank, turn in the car, and get to the terminal - - they're not all together. The actual drive is a bit less than two hours, but I'd want three to make sure it all gets done. Pop a tire at two and you're screwed.
