Looking for Personal Recommendation for Flat or B&B to stay at in London

Hello I'm going to London in March/April and would love a personal recommendation of someplace you stayed and loved. We will be in London for 2 weeks and will be traveling with my seventy-something mother (who's in great shape!), my husband and 12 year old daughter. We all want to rent an apartment/flat together (2 bedrooms would be great) or stay in a B&B together. Mostly, we want safe location in a good neighborhood not too far from the sights. Extra points for anything near a bakery. If you have a link to any place you stayed on Homeaway or AirBNB, please include. And I'm happy to Google any B&B recommendations. Any info appreciated! best,
Kelli

"Back in the day", when we were taking our kids with us, we stayed at the High Holborn/Covent Garden location of Citadines. That is an 'apart-hotel'. That means you get an apartment with a small kitchenett. It is not serviced everyday, but you do get a linen change once or twice a week and there is a manned front desk. They have other central London locations, too. Here is the website http://www.citadines.com/uk/london/holborn_covent_garden.html I have read good things about the London School of Economics. Haven't used them yet- but hope to when we can go the UK again. They rent apartments and spare dorm rooms. You get a kitchen/kitchenett or kitchen priviledges and access to the student laundry. They, too, have multiple central London locations. Here are their two websites (if you try the website and it shows nothing available, that may just be a glitch- contact them via email because their site sometimes has problems with certain web browsers) www.lsetopfloor.co.uk/ (for apartments)
www.lsevacations.co.uk/ (for dorm accomodations)

In September 2011 we stayed at a self-catering apartment through Coach House Rentals and were very happy. http://www.rentals.chslondon.com/properties.htm We are a family of 4, and we rented the property listed as THD. It is 3 floors, with a spiral staircase, but there is a bedroom and bathroom/shower on the ground floor. The kitchen and living area are on the second floor (one flight up). If your mom can handle some stairs, you might like it there. (She'd never have to climb to the 3rd floor, which is one more bedroom and bath.) It's on the south bank of the Thames, but easy walking to Westminster, St. Paul's, etc. Close to the London Eye. And YES! An awesome local bakery just 2 blocks away. Quiet, lots of light, and a great value compared to a hotel. It even had it's own washer and dryer. Enjoy your stay, wherever you stay!

Correction to my post above: There are TWO bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor. Plenty of room for your daughter and mom! And the neighborhood is safe and quiet.
