Looking for a B&B in York

I am looking for a clean, nice B&B in York close to where all the main sites are. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend Abbeyfields Guest House
19 Bootham Terrace

We found it through Rick's guides.

I stayed at Bootham Gardens Guesthouse when I was in York a couple of years ago. It's a very short walk to the city center, it's clean, affordable, has great breakfasts, rooms are small but tidy and comfortable and the neighborhood it's in is very quiet.

We stayed at St. Raphel's Guest House when we were in York in June. It's very conveniently located10 minutes from York Minster. The owners are a charming, friendly couple and the rooms are spotless. The breakfasts were wonderful too. It's one of Rick's recommended B&B's.

I second Abbeyfields Guest House as previously mentioned. You can find it in Rick's book. Very nice, quiet location, spotlessly clean, and comfortable. You can't beat the breakfast, and Les is terrific! They are highly knowledgable and passionate about York. Don't hesitate to ask them about the area...Les is a wonderful storyteller. We were there this past September, and couldn't have asked for a better place. This, in addition to excellent email communications while booking and confirming our stay. You won't be sorry if you choose Abbeyfields.

I am third in line to offer a hearty recommendation for Abbeyfields. We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights in July 2010 and loved our hosts, the location, the breakfast as mentioned (wake up to the aroma of the bread baking!). Be prepared to walk up stairs to your room, though. If necessary, request one on the lower level. We didn't find this to be a problem for us, though. York is a charming, interesting city... enjoy!
