I have been lurking on this board, asking the odd question, for the better part of 2 years now. I really appreciate the advice I've gotten here. The trip I've ended up with is now right around the corner (June). We are a family of 4 (kids are 15 and 18) and we will be starting in London for several days prior to flying to Rome for a 2-week Rick Steves Best of Europe tour. I have a plan for the London portion of the trip, and would appreciate it if folks could let me know if they see any problems with it or have suggestions. We are first-timers to London. We are pretty high energy travelers and would like to see as much as possible. Nonetheless, let me know if you think it's not reasonable. I'd love to sneak a quick visit to the National Gallery in too, but don't see where I can put it. Thanks in advance!! June 13 (Wed) arrive LHR T3 at 10:45am--no checked luggage--have arranged a ride to the Luna Simone with Simply Airports.
On Day 1, plan to pick up 7-day travelcards and 2-4-1s after checking in at the hotel. Would like to see Westminster Abbey (open until 7pm), and Banqueting House. Maybe Churchill War Rooms if there's time. Take London by Night bus tour out of Victoria Station around 8pm--(is this worth it?). ....part 2 in the next post...
