Long Weekend in Liverpool

We are going to Liverpool for a long week end in March and aside from The Beatles and The Tate, what would RS Travelers recommend? Also is it feasible for day trips to Chester or York?

MANCHESTER! See the canal area where the industrial revolution started, the industrial museum, go to the "curry mile" that looks like a carnival midway. Manchester is an easy ride from Liverpool, and that's where I would stay(and will be again the middle of November).
Don't know about Chester, however, York is an easy day trip from either city. Finally, dress for cool and wet in March.

Chester and its covered walkways is easy to get to and pleasant to enjoy.

Just back from 2 weeks in England/Wales. We spent one day/night in Liverpool. If you are interested, the Maritime Museum is very good, and just across the dock from the Tate. Also, the ferris wheel at Albert Dock is fun and informative, though not nearly as big as the London Eye. We did not stop in Chester, but it is less than an hour away. York is one of my favorites; it needs a full day, and is about 2 hours away. Probably could be done by train.

Chester is a very nice town with a couple of museums, a great church and boat trips, plus it's a walled city. It's quite picturesque with covered shopping - as mentioned, about one hour from Liverpool.

Chester is a good City to visit- the "rows' (shops) are unique and very pleasant, walls and some roman ruins. Would be good for a day jaunt. However, I really am enthralled by York, complete walls, fantastic cathedral. Dont miss it if you have the chance

Thanks all I think Chester maybe as it is so close and hold York for another time when we will be up North.
