I'm trying to determine the best route to go with for London with a group of 5. I've travelled to Paris and Rome and stayed in apartments because I like the convenience. Is an apartment in London the best way, too? With 5 people, that usually seems to be the case.
Is there any rental companies you recommend? What about areas of town? I've looked at vrbo, homeaway, and airbnb but I'm not sure the best areas to stay in.
I think with 5 an apartment is the best way to go - more room and, generally speaking, less expensive than 2 hotel rooms. Airbnb is great - if you do a search on the London Trip Advisor forum there are a lot of recommendations for other short stay apartment rental companies.
As for areas - everyone has their favorite - with the tube anywhere is central London is fine - personally, I always stay in Kensington/Earl's Court area - good shopping, pubs and restaurants and easy connections on the tube.
Carrie,
I hope that party of 5 gets along well.
While youre looking, check out the London School of Economics website. The have rental penthouse apartments in central? london. I havent checked on prices and such, but they also rent out the dorm room but i will assume off school season. The apartments they rent year around. Im going to try one of the apartments them maybe next year if i can spend more time in London to justify an apartment.
youre going to have to do some homework, but heres the link.
ive only stayed in a couple of areas in london so far. But what i feel about it is that the tube system is so nice and convenient, i dont worry that much about location to a degree. When im leaving london i try to find a place thats near a train station that has an experss train. Its something that i like to do to minimize my travel time. im sure others will have the best or favorite place to stay.
happy trails.
