Hi - does anyone know the best way to get theater tickets in London's West End? Is there a website that is good to use that I can book ahead of time? I am traveling for business and will be working during the day, therefore I will not have time to stand in line and do "rush" tickets or anything like that. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
We have used Albemarle's of London in the past. Very reliable. I've also read good things about theatremonkey.
Here is a website.....http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/ ...... you can use ticketmaster....http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/ I have even called the theatre where the show is at and ordered tickets
I find theatremonkey.com to be the best resource on where to purchase London theatre tickets. For each production, they will show who operates the official box office and the fees charged. They also have seating charts and reviews on seating I've bought from a number of vendors (See tickets, ticketmaster, etc.) and alway choose to pick up at the box office. I generally go with whatever vendor has the lowest fees. By the way, don't rule out the half price TKTS booth in Leicester Square. It is open until 7pm. I've bought tickets in the last 15 minutes and then headed to a 7:30 show.
Thanks so much everyone!
tkts does list the tickets online that it has for sale from about 10am or so. Look for a few days for the kind of show you may be interested in. You do have to buy at the booths in Leicester Square (or Brent Cross - rather unlikely for the tourist) - cash or card accepted. http://www.tkts.co.uk/show-information/
Hmm, although still listed on parts of the site the Brent Cross office closed a week or so ago. However during May £3 vouchers are being given out there as compensation.
Lonnie, Are you traveling alone? Every one says they have the "best" way, but I actually do. My husband and I split up and while I'm shopping or seeing things in which he has no interest, he goes to the theatre of our choice(s) and buys our tickets from the ticket office...maybe for that night maybe for another night. Failing that, we (actually he) will call from home. No wasting valuable London time standing in line.
Hi - yes I am traveling alone...and I will be there for work which is right in Golden Square. So maybe walking down to Leicester Square to the tkts booth makes the most sense or buying from the ticket office rather than book ahead. :)
Just to add that the proper "tkts" Half Price Ticket Booth is the free-standing cream-grey stone kiosk in the corner of Leicester Square. There are a few impersonators in the area that are standard shop fronts and should be treated more suspiciously.
