I will be visiting London this May and seeing a show at the Queen's theatre. Does anyone have a recommendation for dinner, something nice but not too fancy. And any recommendations for eating/ dining near St. Pancras ?
Thanks so much, Nancy
The Lady Ottoline. Fine gastro pub. Very comfortable. L'Osteria 57 is just up the block. Both over by the Charles Dickens Museum so a bit more Bloomsbury than St. Pancras.
We recently ate at the restaurant on top of the National Portrait Gallery. It's only open for dinner Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Prices are medium level; dressing up is not required. If you book ahead you should be able to get a window table with views of London Eye and / or Big Ben.....Also fun and in the area is the Sherlock Holmes pub.
I also like The Sherlock Holmes..my pub away from home. Good barchow plus a restaurant upstairs. Browns Restaurant on St. Martins Lane is another place we like to go for dinner. They have a 2 course pre theatre dinner menu. We usually share a starter, have a main each and share a pudding.
There are a ton of casual ethnic restaurants in Soho close to the theatre. Along Wardour, there is a Busaba (Thai), Satsuma (a noodle bar), Wahaca (Mexican), Soho Spice (Indian) and some more. On Frith Street there is an excellent Spanish Tapas place called Barrafina. You are also right by Chinatown.
Thank you all for you suggestions! Nancy
Sarastro looked very inviting and is on my list for next visit.
