Thanks for the tube info from Heathrow. I LOVE this site. I am going on a trip with the Red Hat Society and am arriving 2 days early (Dec 27 am) and staying 3 days later (leaving Jan 7th) than the RH group dates so will have single time to explore alone. The group trip involves staying at the Charing Cross Hotel near Trafalgar Square, a tour around London's most famous landmarks. a boat trip to Greenwich, a visit to the Royal Observatory, Royal Naval College, a New Years Party and fireworks, walking in the New Years Parade, a visit to Oxford and Windsor, and a play in the West End along with lots of independent free time to visit sites with RD gals I hope to meet (I won't know anyone). I plan a day trip to Bath and will get Oyster card and see so many sites that I will not visit with the RH group. My 1st trip to London, am so excited. My main concern is finding a place to stay during my alone time. I have many sites to check out from all of your suggestions and RS books but I am worried about heating in the winter in London. I don't want to be in a cold room so don't know if I should go for a hotel or B&B. How is the heating in London B&B's?. I don't want to get stuck in one of those basement rooms either. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
