What is the best tour to use to see Stonehenge and Windsor Castle . Could add Salisbury or Bath to the former. Lied
There are several good tour companies.... ...........premiumtours.co.uk.......evanevanstours.co.uk..........www.goldentours.com..... We have used Golden and Evan Evans and have been happy with both. A friend used Premium and enjoyed it a lot. I would suggest looking at all the websites, this way you can see what each one offers.
London Walks do Explorer Days to all these locations from London. Walks.com I've done a couple of their Explorer Days - which were great - but not to these destinations.
Windsor: you dont need a tour. You get off the train walk into town and the first thing you see is the castle (really difficult to miss it). Walk in past the sentries, wander around within the castle yard, tour the chapel. Tour the castle if you want. Try and time it to see the Guard Changing, interesting and fairly quick. Leave the castle and wander around the town (really only one main street). Go down to the river and spend some time. (possibly even wander into Eton). Walk back up, around the castle and back to the station. Nothing you need a tour or a guide for Salisbury and Stonehenge can be done by train to Salisbury and then local bus to Stonehenge, although most London tour Companies- Grey Line, Evan Evans and others do very similar tours that do Stonehenge plus some other site (often Bath). Pick one that soi=unds interesting to you. Because of the distance, and the long boring coach ride back from Bath, I would try and find one that covers something like Blenheim or a sight East of Stonehenge rather than Bath which is West. If you plan it well. maybe take a tour that does Stonehenge and Bath- but leave the tour in Bath and take the train back- much more efficient and scenic. that way you will have more time in Bath
