Can I get to London to Wattisham by train? I got no results from a search on Rail Europe. Thanks,
I do not know the real answer. But Wattisham is described as a small village- not many have train service any more. You probably will need to get to one of the larger towns (Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds or possibly something closer) by train and then bus or rental car to the airfield or village. I would search on the web to find a hotel or store in Wattisham (or who are you trying to visit?) and see if there is a local bus and what town it comes from.
I need to get to the WWII museum in Wattisham and was hoping it is an easy day trip from London. Thanks for the list of options!
There is no train station by that name. Don't use rail europe, they only list tickets they sell. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ is easiest and best for me in the UK. Use the bahn in Europe.
I did some general searching and you can get a bus from Ipswich. It's Ipswich Buses route 111, timetable at http://www.ipswichbuses.co.uk/timetable_111.html. You can get to Ipswich by train from London Liverpool Street, details at http://www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com/.
Thank you so much for the informative posts! My grandfather served at Wattisham in WWII so this is a very important trip to me and I appreciate the help.
