We want to do a Fab Four Beatles Tour. The train we've found arrives at 12:15 and the tour, a personal one, begins at 12:30. Cutting it close! Are the trains pretty punctual? The tour picks us up at the station.
What is the best website on which to buy tickets? I am trying to navigate best prices. Thetrainline seems good? What do you all think?
Trains are usually fairly reliable but there's always the chance of it being 5-10 minutes late. The Trainline is legitimate, but also try the "cheapest fare finder" on www.nationalrail.co.uk, and direct with the train company that operates that route at www.virgintrains.co.uk.
That's pretty tight. If 'twere me I'd want a bit more time to find the right place and make sure I wasn't stressing about missing the tour I had gone all that way to see. I haven't heard of one picking up in the station. There is also a tour run by the National Trust of their Beatles properties. If you arrive at Liverpool Lime Street by London Midland it is usually the next to last platform towards the left (Platform 8); if Virgin it is usually the next one to the right (Platform 7). The 12:15 arrival is a Virgin service. Liverpool Lime Street is a dead end station with all the platforms parallel to each other with a concourse at the ends of the platforms.
