What is a hot show in London right now? We're going this summer. Any recommendations?

When you arrive in London pickup a copy of the latest issue of Time Out London magazine for reviews of show that have just opened. The online version can be found here:

If you grew up in the 70's you will LOVE "We Will Rock You!". It is based on Queen's music and is wonderful. I have also heard good reviews of "Wicked".
I'd go to see Billy Elliott, which is now on Broadway but premiered in London.
I'd suggest Phedre with Helen Mirren, or Hamlet with Jude Law, but I believe they're both sold out by conventional means. Standing room seats or day ofs would be well worth trying for IMHO. Any Shakespeare at the Globe would be fun, or if you're there in time, at Regent's Park. I'm looking forward to The Importance of Being Earnest in the Park.
A Little Night Music. Oliver is also playing, which I think would be fun to see in London, but not sure it's "hot". Check out www.theatremonkey.com and www.telegraph.co.uk for special deals. Also the halfprice outlet on Leicester Sq.
Billy Elliott, definitely!

I really enjoyed both Billy Elliot and Wicked. Of the shows that I have seen in the past couple of years they have been the ones that I have enjoyed the most.
We bought tickets at the half price ticket booth mentioned in RS guidebook. We saw Spamalot - if you are a Monty Python fan it was great and perfect to see it in London! We took our 8 and 11 year olds and it is one of our best London memories.
I would definitely recommend Wicked. It was absolutley amazing! I loved it!
Remember, lots of these 'hot' shows sell out well in advance, so if you find one that sounds great, book on-line. On the other hand, if you find a handfull that you are interested in, wait till you are in London and go to the half price booth, you could be lucky. London theatre is pricey but wonderful, I've seen a couple of dozen shows in the past few years and all were fantastic. Check out Blood Brothers.
