My sister, mom and I are planning a trip to the above in the fall for about 10 nights. I'm thinking 4 nights in London, 3 nights in Scotland (staying with friends) and 3 nights in Ireland. Any suggestion on the best route and places to see in Ireland?
You won't see much with that time line. You'll loose lots of time to travel. Could you cout out Ireland at least? Also, where are you staying in Scotland?
I'm with Toni. You're going to spend the better part of a day getting to Ireland. With only 10 days, that's 10% of your trip. If you forget about Ireland, you could spend a night or two in York on the way from London to Scotland. Then you could add a night or two to London (leaving time for a day trip to Bath or something similar) or Scotland.
I want to offer an opposing view.
I see the frequent suggestion to people with a short amount of time and want to see England, Scotland and Ireland -- to skip Ireland and focus on England or England and Scotland.
How about skipping England. You could focus all your time in Ireland. I know it is a matter of taste, but I'd pick Ireland every time.
If you've never been to Ireland, and you only have 3 nights, I'd say just spend them all in Dublin. You'll find more than enough there to see and do. You'll have a great time. I really don't see anything wrong with your itinerary.
