Wow, single room for 26 pounds a night in central London. Wish I were going I'd snap that up in a heartbeat. Thanks for the link!
Kings College also has vacation accommodations available in London at 4 campuses. www.kcl.ac.uk (look in accommodations) Rates are similar to those at LSE. Expect dorm rooms, nothing fancy, with good security.
It's funny that a room (with shared bathroom) including English breakfast is cheaper than the breakfast buffet alone at an expensive hotel.
This is my kind of lodging. I like to eat and sleep cheap so I can spend money on entertainment and sites (many of which are free in London).
Thanks for the tip! We're going to try Carr-Saunders hall in mid-August for a couple of nights; 90GBP for 2 nights for a double bed w/ breakfast... can't beat that.
Back in 1998 I stayed in King's College which was located in the Chelsea section of London, and paid about 20 pounds per night for a single. What surprised me is that the bathroom/water closets were co-ed (they had floor to ceiling partitions to keep people separate; this might not be the case at your dorm accomodation). The breakfast was ok but certainly much better than the breakfasts provides at budget French hotels.
