London night activity recommendations?

Hello, Any recommendations for evening or night activities in London? We are staying at the Ruben's by the palace. I've read the RS London book. I'm looking for suggestions from experienced travelers. Thank you, Gary

I highly recommend going to the theatre. Theatre in London is the greatest, we can not go to London with out going to the theatre at least once.

Definitely recommend going to the theatre while you are in London - if you aren't picky with regard to shows, you can purchase reduced price tickets in Leceister Square. Other ideas for evenings - any of the London Walks - no advance planning needed - just show up at the time and place specified. There are a large variety of tours so I am sure you could find something of interest! If you are a history buff, the "ceremony of the keys" at the Tower of London is very interesting - it's basically the "ceremony" of locking the Tower at night and has remained virtually unchanged for 700 years. You need to write for tickets in advance - but they are free! You might also check the websites of some of the historical royal palaces (i.e. Hampton Court, Kensington Palace, etc.). Throughout the year there are a variety of programs offered so there might be something on during the time of your visit. A "pub crawl" - you can either go on a guided one (there are several companies that conduct them) or you could craft your own!
London is a fabulous city - have a wonderful time!

My wife and I were there for 7 days and each night we went to a different Musical. The theatre in London is amazing. We saw Phantom, Les Mis, Mamma Mia and a few others. We did not have reservations and we just bought last minute tickets. That was 10 years ago so maybe reserve in advance to be safe.

When I'm in London, I also go to a play almost every night. You can get "cheap" tickets at the box office on the "morning of". As the previous poster mentioned - there are many wonderful plays to see. I also went to a couple of museums that were having late night activities.
You can research via the Tourist Info sites.....

Gary: I would spend some time looking at the meetup groups based in London to see if any of them will be hosting events during the time of your visit to their city that are of interest to you. For example, last year I was in London I had a nice inexpensive Turkish dinner with a group of 50 or so persons with this meetup: http://www.meetup.com/LONDON-CITY-DINING-CLUB/ After dinner I sat with some members in a nearby pub and had a interesting conversation. I also joined the following meetup group and saw a West End play, Chariots of Fire, with them: http://www.meetup.com/London-International/ The point is that you can be doing something interesting and have a ready made group of co-participants with whom to interact. Have a good trip. George

Walks. Many of London's venerable buildings are lit up at night. London Walks are very good. Theater. Go to theatremonkey.com for all the info - what's on, what's cheap, which seats are good, where to get bargains. Museums. Several have late nights. Pubs. What could be more English? It's probably the best place to have a chat with the locals.
