London: lodging near Victoria Station?

It's been a couple of years since I've been there, but looks to me like most of the small hotels along Eccleston St have turned into outlets of large chains, and doubled or tripled prices!
Any suggestions for reputable places in the vicinity that haven't become outrageously priced or gone over-the-top?

Rod I can vouch for the Luna & Simone at Belgrave Rd. I picked it based on TripAdvisor reviews & the most recent reviews are still good. It is just blocks from Victoria Station & I don't feel the price is over the top. The proprietors are great.

Ditto for Mrs. Patel at Cherry Court. Rooms small but adequate.

Second on the Luna Simone. Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff. Straight short walk to Victoria station or Pimlico tube station the other way. There are also two grocery stores and some restaurants in the neighborhood. A double room was either 95 or 99 pounds, I don't remember exactly. They also mentioned a discount for cash payment. I'll be staying there again in a month's time!

Rod, I've stayed at the Elizabeth Hotel with a Rick Steves tour which is right around the corner from Victoria Station. It was fine. Typically small London hotel with the breakfast room in the basement. But that's fine if you are going to be out sightseeing all day. My last trip I stayed at the BB Belgravia. It was a real treat. I paid 99 pounds at night but it was in November. It was a bit of a splurge but so worth it. Very modern and clean and one of the best breakfasts I've had yet in London. If you don't need to stay by Victoria Stn, I've also stayed at the Hotel Phoenix off Bayswater Road. It's a good deal as well but you're back to the very small, closet size rooms. Hope this helps. CM
