We are 1st time visitors to London looking reccomendations for a convenient, clean, and safe place to stay for a family of 4 with two older teens for 4 days in the last week of July. All of the Rick Steves suggestions are already booked. Any help would be greatly apprecaited. Thanks!
Hugh - You might try www.londonhometohome.com. We used them once and they were reasonable and meet our needs.
I second Joel's recommendation of Home to Home, and would add a similar B&B network, At Home in London, www.athomeinlondon.co.uk/ . We have used both and enjoyed them very much. Each is a network of London homes, generally with only 1 or 2 guest rooms, and great hosts. You submit your request to the manager and she sees what's available and provides some options. Good luck and have a great trip!
Falcon Hotel, 11 Norfolk Square in the Paddington/Bayswater area, it's a 2 minute walk from Paddington tube station. They have family rooms for £129.00......http://www.falcon-hotel.com
I have 3 kids, and it can be a challenge to find family rooms sometimes. I use booking.com because they often find larger rooms when other sites can't. Norfolk Square is a very convenient location - 2 min from Paddington and a wealth of restaurants nearby. There are a ton of "no frills" hotels on Norfolk Square. Our friends stayed at the St. George and found it clean and convenient.
