London: Jubilee Walkway

I'm looking for English Pub suggestions along the Jubilee Walkway or Vicinity. Something traditional, fun, good food, that won't break the bank for a family of five.

The George (galleried inn) mentioned above, is a must see if you are in the area. By now it is truly "unique". It would be fun to eat there for the experience. Although if the timing doesnt suit you try another pub

The Jubilee Walkway is a pretty long route, you might get more answers if you mention a specific area or stretch of the route.

That raises a good question, is the entire legnth walkable? How far is it? We want to finish near our hotel, Premier Inn, County Hall (by the London Eye), what would be a good place to start the walk say about 1 mile away? My mom and kids will be with us and they won't want to walk any further. The restaurant could be anywhere within than one mile walk. Does that make sense?

Kerry The whole Jubilee Walk is 9 miles. A mile would allow you to do the river walk from London Bridge. It follows the south bank of the Thames and passes Southwark Cathedral, The Golden Hind, the Globe Theatre and the new Tate museum. You get good views across the river to St Paul's. If you can persuade them to walk a bit further you can start this at Tower Bridge. A possible place to eat, although it would be at the start of the walk if you are starting at London Bridge, is the George Inn. This is the last galleried coaching inn in London and does decent beer and reasonable sandwiches. http://www.londontown.com/LondonInformation/Bars_and_Clubs/The_George_Inn/a7be/ Another alternative, depending on the day of the week, is to buy food in Borough Market. http://www.boroughmarket.org.uk/page/3020/Visit+us Cheers Alan

There is a great pub The Swan across the street from Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park with out door sitting. It's at 66 Bayswater. It was built in the early 1600's. It's a 2 minute walk from the Lancaster tube station.

This is an excellent question and one I wished I'd asked last summer because it turned out to be one of the few times that I didn't pre-plan a place to eat and just assumed that we'd stumble upon a decent pub to eat in. Well, we ended up walking all the way from Tower Bridge to the London Eye without eating (not that there weren't options, but we kept going thinking the next one would look better). nextime I do this walk from Tower Bridge to the Eye, I'll stop at the George Inn.

If you happen to be doing the walk on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, and the weather is nice, I would suggest detouring to Borough Market for lunch. The toasted cheese sandwiches there are always popular and they have many other goodies that can be bought from the vendors.
