Check with their high commission in Singapore....or their website. They're usually pretty good about listing the things you cannot bring in.

I don't know the reasons why this is so, all I know is that it is .....

There are strict rules about bringing food from South East Asia. Basically you are not allowed, not even dried food sealed in packets.

Customs at LHR and LGW seem to target young students arriving from South East Asia with large backpacks.

Strangely these rules do not seem to apply to passengers arriving from the Indian sub-continent.

I have no idea why this is.

Greetings

As a rule of thumb, you cannot bring flowers, fresh food, meat or dairy products into any EU country from outwith the EU. Other items that can cause problems are honey, spices etc.

Other food items depend on the country and the likelihood of a foreign insect/disease/fungus etc. hitching a ride in/on/with the food item.

FYI, it is customs that handles importation of items, not immigrations.

We took alot of our snacks with us, as 50p is NOT the same price as 50 cents! That said, we NEVER had any trouble with our foods, even when we went on the Eurostar. We also used a mesh see through backpack as our day bag, so that may have helped too.
