If you get minimal replies to your questions about apartments or hotels, go to tripadvisor.com, type in London forum, and use the search option at the top of the forum page. You'll likely be overwhelmed with the ratings of most if not all of your choices.

Am not familiar with the location of most of these hotels but Rubens is very well located near Buckingham Palace. It is a very nice hotel but pricey. It would not fit our budget.

They all seem to be 4 star luxury hotels, probably not the cup of tea of most Rick Steves' followers. Your best bet is to go to Trip Advisor for reviews. As for location, no doubt each hotel's website will have a map available to click on.

Thanks everyone. According to other reviewers, Montague on the Gardens sounds nice and in a good location!
