My husband, sister, and I will be travelling to London August 1st and are looking for a hotel that is between Heathrow airport and the city. My husband has only one day (Saturday) to see a few tourist attractions in London (such as Westminister Abbey) and then catches a flight back to the US the next day (Sunday) at 8:45am.
Any help much appreciated!!!
How is your husband planning to travel to the airport?
Sunday tube times are later than usual so his only best option is to book a minicab.
To get to the airport early enough you probably should stay at an airport hotel Saturday night. I stay at Heathrow Lodge which has a free shuttle to LHR beginning at 6 am. There are other hotels in that area, mostly more expensive but all within a 15-30 min shuttle to the airport.
You can book a car to pick you up in the morning and take you to the airport. It's been a while since I did that in London, but it is possible. I would check to find out what time the airport opens. When I arrived at Heathrow the suggested 3 hours ahead, I found the airport locked up and a lot of us obedient travelers sitting in the dark watching staff arrive. Check the web site.
