Taking my wife to London for her first visit...looking for small hotel with great atmosphere and good location...willing to spend more in the city...5 day visit...then off to Devon and Cornwall...We will be in England for 3 weeks
(Aug&Sept) ...any suggestions?
In April we spent two nights at the Hotel Lancaster and were great impressed with the hotel itself and the staff. Excellent location, too.
It's not a small hotel, but it has great atmosphere and a wonderful location. The Grosvenor in Victoria Station (used to be the Victoria Thistle). It is a Victorian station hotel. The lobby is magnificent. I understand that the rooms have all been recently renovated, too.
Bob, we just returned from a stay at the Ashburn Hotel in South Kensington. We loved everything about it - it is a beautiful little boutique hotel, lovely service, and a fantastic location. Highly recommend!

The Rembrandt. Besides being a wonderful hotel, across the street from the Victoria and Albert Museum, it has a tremendous hot breakfast buffet. Cheaper if you book through British Airways in conjunction with air.
We loved a Base 2 Stay near Earl's Court Station. Elevator, modern, great beds, all the amenities you could ask for and quiet. I love old English charm and this hotel is not going to meet this expectation, however, for the price, I would highly recommend it!
