I'm a little overwhelmed by all of the different neighborhoods and hotel options in London. I think I've narrowed our choices down to the following: Best Western Burns (Earl's Court) Tudor Court Hotel (Paddington)
Premier Inn (Southwark) Any thoughts on these hotels or locations? I'm mostly concerned about location. We'll only be in London for a short time, so it's important to me that we have relatively easy access to the city's main sights. Also, we'll be arriving from Heathrow and departing via St. Pancras. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.
London is very walkable and with it's stellar public transport easy to get around. Have not stayed at any of the places you've listed but have visited London numerous times. Guess I'd go with the Tudor Court Hotel. Close to Paddington Station which is where arrive via the Express or Connect from Heathrow. You also access the tube there. After you've checked in, freshened up, and want to start seeing the major sites, go back to Paddington, get your Oyster Card, and/or the 2 for 1 National Rail travel cards, Mind the Gap and take the District or Circle lines to the Westminster station. Exit and off you go.
I have never stayed in any of those. If you're departing via St. Pancras, you might try the Alhambra. http://www.alhambrahotel.com/ Several regular posters love this hotel. As Claudia says - London is very walkable, and transport is excellent. Thistle Hotels are nice for the money.
http://www.thistle.com/en/group/find_a_hotel.html?searchby=city&city=London Thistle Euston is relatively close to St. Pancras. Thistle Kensington Gardens is a quick mile from Paddington. Its all really in what you want.
Thank you! I appreciate your responses and suggestions. After further research, I think I will book the Premier Inn Kensington at Earl's Court. It is located on the Piccadilly line, so easy access to both Heathrow and St. Pancras (right?).
Keri, are you talking about the Premier Inn on Knaresborough Place? If so, it is about 2 blocks from Earls Court tube and Piccadilly line is easy access for both LHR and St Pancras. Any of the locations could work, but I do like find the location of the PI on Knaresborough Place quite easy when traveling from Heathrow. I haven't stayed there, but I stayed at the base2Stay right next to it.
Of the three you listed, we have stayed only at the Premier Inn @Southwark and liked the location very much. It's a couple of blocks from the London Bridge Tube and very near the Borough Market. When we stay at Premier Inns, it's usually County Hall but I think next time I'll go back to Southwark.
Laura, yes, the one on Knaresborough Place.
