I am looking for an interesting hotel with character near Portobello rd. Notting Hill, Bayswater tube stop.We are traveling with a teen. We are only able to stay 1 night and want to be walking distance to interesting places.
Vancouver Studio Apartments. Steep stairway but recall family room up 3 flights. Contact them to be certain. Real close to Bayswater tube stop. Affordable, clean, safe. Check trip advisor reviews as well. Whole area has character because of it's diversity. Walk from Paddington Station to the apartments. Easy walk to Hyde Park. Walk to Nottinghill. Could walk to Portobello Market but it's a hump. Mile and a half at least. A one stop tube ride though from Notting Hill Gate Tube station. 20 minutes. Via the tube can access "the" sites relatively easily. Just remember commute times in order to avoid the masses. Enjoy your one day visit.
We stayed at the London Vicarage Hotel near the High Street Kensington stop, not far from the areas you mention. Triples run about £170.00 with private bath and a very generous hot breakfast. We walked up Portobello Road, through Notting Hill, Holland Park, Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park and more from that location.
Thank you for the suggestions. These seem like nice places. We plan to see the big sites r on the Fat Tire bike tour then off on our own. The Vicarage web page had great links too.
