My husband & I have a two day layover in London (arrive Thurs Sept 12th at 7am & leave Sat Sept 14th at 6:25am). We arrive at Heathrow from the US & know we'll be very jetlagged. Our flight on Saturday leaves Stansted very early in the morning so we're considering staying out by Stansted after looking at the hassel/expense of trying to get to the airport so early in the morning. We're trying to find as reasonable place as possible (we know London is expensive), but also want to get a decent sleep since we'll be jetlagged. Tentatively thinking we'll put luggage in train station locker & sightsee Thursday & try to stay up until about 7pm to adjust to time. We would prefer not to have the hassel of switching hotels & neither of us have been to London before, so not very familiar with getting around the city. Questions: 1. What is the best route to get into London if we stay at Stansted & approximate cost of train/bus/etc? 2. Does this make sense vs staying in London & making early journey Sat am. If we did stay in London what are good options to get to Stansted that early on a Saturday morning?
3. How early do we need to be at Stansted on Saturday morning (flying Ryanair to Pula, Croatia) Thanks in Advance!
You can also take the Stansted Express train out of Liverpool Street station or Tottenham Hale. I know you probably don't want to switch hotels, but if it were me, I'd be inclined to spend the first night in London and the second night at Stansted (assuming that your flight is very early) rather than making the trip back and forth. Often, the hotel will let you in early if they have a room available. At the very least, they'd hold your luggage for you both before and after checkout. You could go from Heathrow to your London hotel and drop off your luggage. Spend the day and first night in London. On day 2, check out and leave your luggage with the hotel. In the evening, take the train (or bus) to Stansted and stay the night there.
My husband and I decided it would make more sense to stay one night in London & one night in Stransted now. Any recommendations for hotels in either place? Considering Premier Inn for Friday night as its gotten great reviews on Trip Advisor. Thank you!
don't know the Premier Inn at Stanstead, but the one at Heathrow is wonderful.
