Have you looked in Rick's London book yet? Tons of great places around Victoria Station. I'd consider the Lime Tree Hotel.

I have indeed and also sent an inquiry to the Lime Tree. It can also be a B&B. We are trying to stay as centrally located to the center of London as possible so we don't have to take the Tube everywhere. Thanks for the reply :)

I love the Victoria area, but you will need to use the tube (or buses) a good bit if you stay there. In fact, you'll be using the tube a good bit almost anywhere you stay. The sites are not clustered together in one area and unless you are prepared to walk very long distances in some cases, you'll use buses or the tube. It is not bad at all- in fact I enjoy the the London transist system- clean, easy and relatively inexpensive.
We have stayed at the former Victoria Thistle- now called the Grosvenor. It is right inside Victoria Station. It is not an inexpensive or cheap hotel- but not high end/very expensive either. It is a true old fashioned station hotel. Very convienent for the tube, good resturants in the area and grocery stores, pharmacies, fast food stands, resturants, book store and news stands (and more) in the station itself. If you are arriving from Gatwick airport it is especially convienent.

Tom, You might have a look at This Hotel in the London Victoria area. It's basic but very comfortable, I think it's affordable and the owners are wonderful. Happy travels!

Take a look at The Cherry Court Hotel: http://www.cherrycourthotel.co.uk/ However, if you are looking for something centrally located, I recommend the Trafalgar Square area. It is walking distance to many of the tourist sites: London Eye, Covent Garden, Westminster Abbey, National Gallery, theater district, and the River Thames, just to name a few. I have stayed all over London, and it is my favorite area because of its proximity to so many sites. Bloomsbury is another central area you may want to consider. Less pricey than Trafalgar Square, and has a lot of budget hotels.

Was just at Luna & Simone near Victoria Station in May. Great, basic, Rick Steves' type hotel, but the owners are very helpful and friendly and the neighborhood was filled with restaurants. The great thing was the #24 bus goes right outside the hotel, so I hardly took the underground-just hopped on the bus. It goes all the way to Trafalgar Sq.

We are booked at the Lime Tree Hotel for four nights starting July 31. It looks good, we liked the location, and they have been very good to work with via email.

2nd vote for Luna Simone. We stayed there last October. Bus #24 was definitely handy, it's 2 stops to Victoria Station also, very useful if you're coming from Heathrow on the tube and don't want to walk to the hotel. Breakfast included was good too.

I want to thank everyone for the wonderful suggestions on hotels in the Victoria Station area, but unfortunately everything that was suggested and a few others in that vicinity were booked for the days we will be there. I ended up having to book at a place in Bayswater called The Byron. Seems quite nice and has what we are looking for. It's not as close to where we wanted to be but it's in a nice locale right by Hyde Park. Has anyone heard any positive or negative feedback on The Byron? Leaving next Friday for 5 days in London and then on to Paris for another week :) Have an apartent rented there.

We stayed at the Cartref House and were very pleased. Breakfast was very large and the owners were very nice and happy to offer advice for our daily itineraries. The rooms were very comfortable, the best bed we had in all of Europe. (Although some of our beds were pretty bad!)

Hi Tom, We just came back from London. We stayed at the B+B Belgravia which is a short easy walk from Victoria Station. I would give the hotel an average rating. The rooms are clean but breakfast is below average compared to other B&B we stayed at through out England. The walls are thin and you can hear all noises from the hallway and street. We fixed this by requesting a fan to add "white noise". Location wise, this hotel is great but for value you can probalby do better. Great restaurant just around the corner is "da Scalzo".

I think any of the B&B along Ebury street near Victoria will be close in quality, I stayed at the Morgan House, basic room, decent breakfast, the staff was polite, but I did not use them for anything, so not sure how helpful they may be. I also stayed down the street at the Lynton Hotel (could not find a place for 6 nights at one hotel). Again, good basic room, the owner runs it himself, is a very cheery guy and would be a great help if you had questions. Both places you will need to navigate stairs of course.

I have stayed at the Lime Tree and have to say, we were not impressed. I would never recommend the Lime Tree to anyone. That said, it is a great location but I think you can do better for your money. Have also stayed at the Simone and Luna (sp?). Liked that better than the Lime Tree.
