London Hop on Hop off Bus Tour

Me and my bf will be staying in London next month for three days. My coworker mentioned hop on hop off bus tour that she recommends for short visits. I see a lot of choices on the interenet and prices vary significantly... Does anybody know which one is good and is it better to book online or in London? This is our first visit btw.

Original Bus Tour is the first hop on/off tour company, and has the most extensive routes, and side deals (entry tickets to sites, Thames River Cruise, etc).

Big Red Bus also offers a decent service, but not as expansive.

Booking in advance is not a bad idea, there can be a line to get tickets, but honestly it's pretty easy, and most hotels sell them too. Just got for best price!

PS - Don't think you'll be disappointed with any of them. I've done them 4-5 times now, and will certainly do again my next trip! :)

Used the Big Red Bus extensively on our first visit to London. Good value, includes one river trip which we used Westminster to Tower of London. Had no problem buying ticket from bus at the first stop. Cannot give a comparison with others as it is teh only one we used. Subsequent visits we have used the tube.

Olga - We used the Big Red Bus and it was fine. We caught it out side of Victoria Station, but you can catch them all over town. We used them all day long, and it was great.

I have used a couple but I would probably go with The Big Red Bus. Also, be sure to visit their souvenir shop which is best place to buy London souvenirs. It is a couple of blocks from the London Eye.

You can also do a similar tour on the regular public bus and all it costs is a one day travel pass. Go to www.londonforfree.net and you can download the directions and a narration of what you are passing. Save money and interact with the locals at the same time.

went a few years back and used the Original Bus - it was very good and stops everywhere that you would want to go - you can pick places you want to see and then you can go by underground if you want to save time - we loved the bus! A must do - the London Eye- it is very easy to get around London, you will have no problems.

We used the Orginal one and got a fee boat tour up the Thames, well worth it. Do go on the EYE, well worth it.

I had a fantastic tour on my first visit to London. We were fortunate to have been recommended London Magical Tours from a group of friends who loved their private tour. If you go onto the link : http://www.londonmagicaltours.com you can order your custom London Tour and whats best their prices are very flexible. You get your very own Private Guide and an additional Private Chauffeur. We saw all the important sites and managed to even go onto the London Eye all in three hours!

Hello. We have used the Hop-on, Hop-off buses numerous times. You have to make sure you know what the route is going to be. Otherwise you might end up on one that takes all day. Another suggestion is that you take Gray Line day tours around London. They do a great job of touring. We have used them to go to Stonhenge, Bath, around London, etc.
