London for New Years

Well if you've not done Trafalgar Square at midnight on New Year's Eve you've not lived. My advice is to get to a favourite pub nearby ( you may have to buy a ticket a few days before ) and then head for Trafalgar Square around 11.00pm and join in the festivities and the crush. Alternatively Covent Garden is a great venue and so is Parliament Square and so is Picadilly Circus and so is Leicester Square.

Alternatively select you favourite pub and spend the evening there. Or, if you can afford it and if it's to your taste, book yourself into Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club ( better do that now - there won't be many places left ).
