Does anyone know of a good flea market not too far from St. Pancras Station in London? Or any good street market? I am not looking for expensive antique shops but what you would find in a flea market in the US.
As flea markets in the states differ (seriously the Rose Bowl flea market in Pasadena, CA bears no resemblance to the First Mondays Flea Market in Canton, TX and neither are similar to the Berkeley, CA flea market). Variety of markets and flea markets through out London. Each fairly easy to reach by using the London Undeground. My personal favorites are: Borough Market (go early), Camden Lock (love the whole area, closest to you), Broadway Market ( in the ever changing East End) and Strutton Ground Market in Wesminster (small and charming). Google Timeout London and type in flea markets. Will give all the info you need. Location, days and hours of operations, closest underground station and a description of what's being sold.
If you are in the area you might want to visit a car boot sale. Started as private individuals renting a pitch for the day to sell off unwanted possessions from the boot (trunk) of their car but these days you will find small time traders and use of stalls as well. Eclectic mix of stuff for sale! List of regular sales in London. http://www.timeout.com/london/feature/1193/londons-best-car-boot-sales For anyone travelling around the UK you will find many such sales usually at weekends.
