Hi Frank, I can't help you with a restaurant for Indian food, but for fish/chips you could try Kerbisher & Malt, 164 Shepherds Bush Road, or a pub. I have always had great fish/chips at pubs.

Raj of India is stellar. BTW a great way to find neighborhood restaurants is to check out either London Eater or Hungry in London food blogs. Enjoy your meals.

Best: Nepalese Tandoori Restaurant, 121 Uxbridge Rd. Second best: Rajput, 144 Goldhawk Rd. Neither is much to look at from the outside; plain to kind of shabby. Good takeaway at both, if you'd rather take it back to your flat to eat. If you are willing to walk a dozen or so blocks to the east of Shepherd's Bush, along Uxbridge Rd., you will find the fabulous Malabar at 27 Uxbridge Rd. But then you will be in Kensington/Notting Hill Gate area, not Shepherd's Bush.

Frank, Just thought of a good fish place, also in Notting Hill Gate area. Geales, at 2-4 Farmer St, Great fish and chips; cheap but good. This is not in your area, but not too far away. Sea Shells of Lisson Grove, 49 Lisson Grove, is IMHO the best fish and chips in London. (Not far from Regents Park.) You can get there by taking London Bus number 94 from Shepherd's Bush east along Bayswater Rd. to Marble Arch. If you get off at Marble Arch, it's about a twelve block walk due north. The ride on bus number 94 is more scenic than taking the tube. If you are traveling east, sit on the right side of the bus and you will get great views of Hyde Park to the south of you for the last half of your ride. The Number 94 bus is a useful one for you, because it will take you all the way from Shepherd's Bush to Piccadilly Circus, if you so desire. From there, you can pick up a lot of bus or tube lines, or be in a good position to walk around sightseeing from there. Of course, you can pick up the tube right there in Shepherd's Bush, too. You're welcome!
