I see a stop for Shepards Bush. Would the #148 bus then go by the Hilton Kensington, since from the route map, I assume the 148 goes down Holland PArk Ave? Are we allowed to take luggage (1 medium suitcase each) on the bus? Is it awfully crowded at 9 AM? thanks, Elaine

When you go to London, get a "London Pocket Map", it has a tube and bus map and table on it as well as all the icons of london. My husband got one for me when he was still in London (hes british) and when i go in December, i have it all mapped out already. You can buy them in vending machines in tube stations.
I dont think its an issue to have luggage on a bus! Just might be difficult to hang onto if its crowded...

Looks easy peasy to me. tlf has other maps too.
You haven't said whether you are going during the week or weekend. You will get some morning commuters if during the week. If you are traveling with kids, I'd say suck it up and get a taxi. It is so not worth the hassle. You will arrive at your destination happier and less stressed.
