Three friends and I will be spending a week in London in March. We are interested in taking one or two cooking classes. Can anyone recommend anything to us? We like all types of cuisine. Thanks!
My first suggestion would be to look into Leiths cookery school. leiths.com. Other suggestions seafoodtraining.org.
Or look at the redletterday.co.uk website - I remember someone at work getting a sushi training course for 2 - I think there are some other food possibilities there as well.
I've taken good classes at both Divertimenti (www.divertimenti.co.uk) and at Books for Cooks (www.booksforcooks.com). Celia Brooks Brown (www.celiabrooksbrown.com) does gastrotours in several areas. I've taken her tours in Borough Market and Marylebone and enjoyed both.
Thank you, all, for the suggestions. I always appreciate someone taking their time to share. My friends and I will check out all ideas.
Paula, I thought that I would come back and add two more places. I haven't tried either of these, but hopefully I will one day ... cookingwithmonisha.com has Indian classes in Hounslow. I've always wanted to try one of her classes but unfortunately have never been able to find one that coincided with my visit. La Cucina Caldesi (www.caldesi.com) has Italian classes. Again, I've never taken a class there but have read a couple positive reviews by some of the London food bloggers. I've noticed that Ursula Ferrigno teaches some classes there and I have taken a class with her at Books for Cooks and I really enjoyed it. I also wanted to clarify that the Books for Cooks classes are almost all demos. Divertimenti has both demo and participation classes.
