We're planning a two week trip in December with our three adult (20, 21, 27) children. We'll be in Israel for about 8 days and then were considering London. A good combo? London first? Easy flights between the two? I've never been to London or Israel, so any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.
(p.s. we originally considered combining it with Egypt, but not everyone is on board with the idea due to safety concerns.)
Go for it! Discount airline Easyjet now has flights between Luton Airport and Tel-Aviv. If it's any consolation, the British Museum has one of the best Ancient Egypt exhibits outside of Cairo. But, if you really have your heart set on seeing some pyramids you might consider Mexico City instead. IMO the Tenochtitlan site is evey bit as good as what you will find outside Cairo.
Book flights with British Air. They fly non-stop from SFO to London and from London to Tel Aviv, so they'd be the best choice. Just because of the flight schedules, I'd stop in London outbound (or you'll have a layover of several hours). From Tel Aviv to SFO, there's a 2 hour layover in London, just long enough to make the connection, since you have to change terminals. But it probably depends more on your exact travel dates, deciding which work better for what you want to see and do in each country.
These are great suggestions. I feel better about skipping Egypt for London! We'll see Egypt another time. I'll look at both airline suggestions. If you have any "must-see" suggestions in London for the 20's crowd (my kids), I'm all ears!! Thanks again.
