London bus

I have a London Travel Card and have decided to try a bus instead of tube. Do I board in front and show the card to the driver or is there a machine in which I insert the card? Also, do they announce or show the stops as we go along?

Dianne, Just ask the driver when you board the bus. It has never been my experience that they announce stops, but if you ask the driver to do so he usually will. Place yourself where you can hear him.

Re announcing the stops: you should have an idea of where you are going and roughly where you need to get off. Most drivers or conductors will announce the stop - if they remember and if conditions allow. Dont only rely on the driver though. I follow the route with street names etc, even in areas I have never been before
