London B&B Walking Distance to Sites or Tube

Looking for a nice B&B under 300 US a night. Pubs and restaurants in the area would be a bonus for evenings.
Thank you.

Last July I stayed at the Surtees Hotel (B & B) which is a few blocks away from the massive Victoria subway - train - bus stations. For $110 per night I got a queen size bed with its own toilet, sink, and shower. The B(reakfast) part of the deal was ok: cereal, fruit, cheese, toast. The staff was friendly. They have a family room in case you are going with more then 2 people. Plenty of restaurants and pubs in the area. I felt completely safe in the neighborhood. My only gripe is that when I wanted to compose email and write articles for a newspaper I had to go the kitchen to get a working surface. The wifi was free. Rick Steves describes the neighborhood to the suth (?) of Victoria Station as being one with many reasonably priced B&Bs, and I fully agree. There were neighborhoods that I walked through in London that looked a bit gloomy for my tastes (eg Bloomsbury) though I am sure they are ok. Check with tripadvisor.com once you have narrowed your selection of B&Bs.

We stayed near Paddington Station a couple of years ago and really liked the area. The express train from Heathrow goes to Paddington, so you can walk to your B&B; there are two different tube lines you can walk to; and it's a short walk to Hyde Park. Also, there are lots of inexpensive restaurants around Paddington. I have a posting looking for specific recommendations on accomodation, as we were not all that thrilled with the place we stayed at in 2010.
