Hi, does anyone know of a good decently priced B&B in London City Centre?
I'm not particularly picky, but I'm traveling with two others...ideas?
Thanks in advance!
I would recommend the Darlington Hyde Park in Paddington and the Luna & Simone in Victoria.
My apologies...I've been looking everywhere else between B&Bs and hostels so the my mind was still in that gear. I'm looking for budget accommodation. My own experiences have me looking at someplace other than hostels in London.
Can you suggest either budget hotel, guesthouse, or decent hostel?
Thanks!
The going rate for the cheapest places that are OK is around 45 GBP for a double with breakfast, about 65 GBP full ensuite.
Best place is Kings Cross. Try places like Crestfield, Montana Excel, Meridiana, Wardonia.
There are some decprepid places in Victoria (Hugh Street) and Bayswater when rates go as low as 29 GBP but they're little more than hostels with private rooms.
Its also worth checking the Travelodge UK web site. They have sales quite frequent where you can pick up a decent room for as low as 9 GBP, certainly below 50 GBP.
easyHotel is another chain that has low rates, but things like use of a TV, windows in your room are optional extras.
Premier Inn is probably the best no frills chain in the UK, similar to Express Holiday Inn in US. They do multi-day promotional rates where lowest room rates are 29 GBP.
Many on these boards have recommended EasyHotel. Small rooms, but has everything you need at what appears to be an exellent rate.
Last year I stayed at the Arran House Hotel on Gower St. very close to the British Museum in Bloomsbury. Very clean, super prices, excellent full breakfast buffet each morning, helpful staff, convenient to Tube and buses. This year I'll be staying at the Jesmond Hotel, also on Gower. It was recommended by a friend and is rated excellently on Trip Advisor. I couldn't get ensuite, so I'm using the shared bath, but for 45 pounds a night it's a super deal. These are called "hotels" but are really just very large B&B's when you get right down to it.
Both have web sites. I really like the Gower St. location, though I've no basis for comparison to other areas of London. It's about 5 minutes by bus to Trafalgar Square, and pretty much everything of interest can be measured from that spot.

There are many small and reasonably-priced hotels along Gower Street, also in Earl's Court and Bayswater (but make sure to read reviews before booking to make sure they fit your needs!). All good locations and convenient for sightseeing by the tube or bus.
Try this site : b&b london They have a lot of good prices
Check out the London School of Economics. They rent spare dorm space to tourists. They ahve several locations and a variety of rooms, suites, and even apartments. Rates seem to start between 45-60 GBP. Here is a website
