I would be choosing between #3 (mariana in Notting Hill area) or #4 (Jan near Sloane Square). Mariana's is near Bayswater Road, which has all kinds of bus transportation, Notting Hill Gate would be your tube station. Jan's is near Sloane Square Station, from which you can access Circle or District line on the Tube (and many bus routes run through there). You can get around all over the place using those two lines. Jan's place is also near Victoria Station, convenient if you want to hop a train for an out of town trip. Personally, I would cross #2 (Olivier) off the list because of the HUGE construction project across the street from his place. You can see the deep hole in the ground from the window of Bedroom #2, and also take a good look at "street view" to see the construction fence right across the street. He has a good location, but I wouldn't want to chance the noise beginning at daybreak every morning. Mariana's would be quieter, being on a dead end street. But Jan's (#4) is more centrally located to walk to the Westminster attractions, and probably has more restaurants within walking distance than the other locations. I recommend this place, on Ebury Street, one to two blocks from Jan's place: http://eburyrestaurant.co.uk/ All the locations are workable. All have transportation (bus or tube or both). All the locations have good restaurants nearby. Keep in mind that you will be traveling to other areas of London to see attractions, so you will run across some good restaurants near those attractions. The other neighborhood I would suggest you look at would be Bloomsbury. Walking distance to many attractions, such as The British Museum, the theatre district, Covent Garden and Soho. Good transportation there, and restaurants.
