london apartment renting

After hours of searching for a reputable booking agency for an apartment/flat to rent in London, I am completely lost. Just when I think I find a "good" one then I read a couple of reviews that bash the place. I don't know what to do at this point. Personal recommendations and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm with you there. The only reputable looking ones that seem trustworthy are far beyond my budget. And those are the ones recommended on here. People recommend vrbo, but I've also read a lot of poor reviews on the internet.

I'm personally after a tiny studio with twin beds, a bathroom, a kitchenette, and a television. Apparently that's hard to find even somewhere like London that has accommodation coming out the wazoo!

And it's not hours that I've spent, but weeks and months! Aieee!

I've heard good things about this place and I'm considering it for my next trip to London:

The Mansions

We loved the Queen's Gate apartment listed by 'In The English Manner'. It's a 2 bed 2 bath with large living room and full kitchen, located right across the street from the museums in South Kensington, and just down the street from the Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park. I can't think of a better neighborhood to stay in in London. Comfortable, quiet, and convenient.

The Mansions is a serviced apartment, I think Robin is asking about renting a normal apartment. 'Self Catering' is the way to go, in my opinion. You don't have to pay for services you don't need. My wife and I just went to the grocery store and bought what we needed for breakfast and dinner. Eating two meals a day at home saved money and was relaxing.

Oh and by the way, I attended Rick Steve's presentation on Great Britain last weekend, and he mentioned that he had stayed in an apartment last time he was in Bath, and that it can be about the same price as a moderate hotel room. I am glad he is finally on the bandwagon with staying in apartments!

Robin,

Try the London School of Economics site...my friend usually stays at the Grosvenor House studios. Now the LSE had something new called Top Floor which are available all year round not just when school is not in session.

Good Luck

Mollie
