London 7.05AM

We arrive in London at 7.05AM at Terminal 5. There is a National Express Bus that leaves at 7.40am. That is too soon to get thru immigration and pick up our luggage. The next one leaves at 10.20 to Victoria Coach Station. We are staying just around the corner from VCS but I am wondering if there is another bus line we could take to VCS from Terminal 5. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I did ask for help before on tube connections but I know hubby will not go for that.

Try searching at coach.nationalexpress.com. I can see coaches at 0815, 0830 and 0915 for tomorrow. What day are you arriving? You don't mention what the problem with the tube is. If it's claustrophobia, you can get an above-ground train to London Paddington station, and a local bus from there to Victoria or wherever else you need to go.

Philip We are not arriving until late September but I want to get this decided before we leave. After travelling all night I think either taxi or bus is the most convenient way to get into London for 2 tired Seniors, I will check out your suggestion on timing again.
Thank you

I saw that you think a taxi or bus would be the best for you after a long flight. A bus would take at least an hour to get into London, taxi could cost around £80.00 for the trip into London. You could get the Heathrow Express, takes 25 minutes to Paddington Station in London. At Paddington you could get a taxi to your hotel. For both of you the Heathrow Expree would be around £36.00. It leaves every 15 minutes.

Hi. The Heathrow Express is a nice train and easy. If you have the extra money a taxi is definitely the easiest and you'll have help with your luggage! Enjoy

Yes, the Heathrow Express train is quite luxurious if you're willing to pay the fare. Probably more than a NatEx coach.

Since you will be staying close to Victoria Coach Station, taking a National Express coach should work well for you. However, if you want door-to-door service, book a private car service. It will be a lot cheaper than a taxi. For example, Just Airports charges £32.00 (cash fare discount) for a saloon (sedan) from Heathrow to anywhere in postal code SW1 (Victoria Coach Station).

Heading for the Victoria area the underground is probably an easier route than going by Paddington on HEX/HCN. Do a level platform change at Hammersmith from Piccadilly. However, there would still be a flight of stairs to negotiate at Victoria, and you would be travelling with the commuter flow. The National Express coaches are, in case you haven't picked up on it, long distance services that happen to take in both Heathrow and London Victoria. They aren't dedicated shuttle services between Heathrow to London.

I'm an older traveller myself and I'd strongly suggest the Heathrow Express -it's right there in the airport and very easy to access. Last time I came through, there were 2 ticket sellers standing right where you enter baggage collection, so there was no queueing later on. Alternatively the suggestion to hire a private car ahead of time is a good one.

Don't forget about the Heathrow Connect train. It goes from the same track as the Express, makes a few stops so takes a bit longer, but it is half the price of the Connect, and the cars are just as comfy and accommodating to tourists and their bags.
