Sorry I forgot to mention our budget for lodging. From what I have seen in doing some research it looks like we are probably talking about $250 a night. We do want bath etc. and a nice location for traveling the city. Hope this helps. Thanks for input so far.

You will definitely be able to find a room for that price! We just got back from London last week, and paid about 88 pounds/night (about $150) for a nice, clean, safe double room with fridge, microwave, kettle, tea service, A/C unit and ensuite bathroom about a 4-minute walk away from the Baker Street tube station. Very close to Regent's Park, quiet street, excellent pub nearby. In that range, there is plenty of choice in London.
