Hi, I know there seems to be endless information already given, but the more I read the more I become confused. My daughter and I arrive at Gatwick and will stay near Marble Arch for four nights. I was thinking of purchasing a return rail ticket between Gatwick - Victoria. Will this cover the ticket required for the 2 for 1 admissions, besides the printed vouchers which I plan to print from home. I would then purchase an oyster card as that seems the most economical. Last question:Can I order the return ticket on line. I have the website for National Rail and it's cheaper to order ahead of time, but then I'm unsure if this printed ticket will be enough for the 2 for 1 admissions. Can anyone advise?
Thansk in advance, Karen
Its actually pretty easy, Karen. If you want to use a 2 for 1 through the rail promotion, when you show up at the ticket window with a voucher you need to present a rail ticket valid on that day. Certainly your tickets on your arrival day and departure day will qualify.
Thanks for your reply Nigel. I think what confused me was the normal rail ticket versus a travel card, which I had at first considered buying, but had read a few places that it was not possible to buy at Gatwick?
But the online tickets should be fine? I ask as I've read in many forums that it should be bought at a National Rail station, should be orange etc.
The train station at Gatwick has a ticket window. You should be able to buy it there.
If you buy a return rail ticket to London, you will qualify for the 2 for 1 offers on the intervening days. Remember to keep hold of your inward ticket (ie do not hand it in when you arrive in London) to show when you claim the offers. Info is on the FAQ part of the 2 for 1 website http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/faq.aspx
