Lodgings near Paddington Station?

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels or B&Bs with single ensuite and cooked breakfast in the 50GBP price range and within about 300 yards of Paddington Rail Station? I'll be landing at Heathrow and departing from Paddington for Exeter two days later. I especially like to stay in that area regardless of my arrival airport or my next destination because so many Tube lines run through Paddington Station, and the Central Line stop is only a few minute's walk away at Lancaster Gate. (A few minutes as long as you're not carrying luggage so you can walk faster than about 2 MPH!)

I've stayed at the Ashley, on Norfolk Square, once or twice a year for about the last 15 years, but my loyalty was to the former owners. Now that it is under new ownership I no longer have any desire to stay there and I am ready to consider alternatives. Last summer, I stayed at the Royal Norfolk, on London Street, for 3 one-nighters. Never again! Each room was worse than the previous one and all three overlooked London Mews, where the Tube runs through an open cut. The noise was extreme, even with the window closed.

Hyde Park Court Hotel in Norfolk Square has great reviews on tripadvisor. I walked past it and its a nice area. Maybe a 7-10 minute walk to Paddington Station.

For several years I've stayed at the Cardiff Hotel, 5, 7, 9 Norfolk Square. Rooms are small, but over look the quiet square. Over the years the rooms have been updated with what-you-want plumbing. The staff has always been honest and trustworthy. They serve an abundant, satisfying breakfast. Only steps away from Paddington Station and Underground. www.cardiff-hotel.com

We stayed at the "Edwards Hotel" a little under 2 blocks from Paddington tube station. It was in your price range, thru Hotels.com and was clean, comfortable, but smallish rooms, typical of europe hotels, unlike in USA. It was not a B&B, but had breakfast options if I remember right, and there were numerous restaurants in a 2 block radius. The Itialian Restaurant across the street was awesome!

Soroptimist Residential Club http://www.soropclub63.org.uk/ has a b&b offering single with ensuite shower at 57GBP. You do not need to be a member of the organization to stay there. My mother, a member here in the U.S., and I stayed there twice when in London. Great experience. Not too far from Paddington train and underground stations - 3-4 short blocks away on Bayswater. They didn't served a cooked breakfast, but their buffet was substantial. Regards.
