lodging recommendations for Isle of Skye

We will be in Isle of Skye in late September--will, of course, have a car. Anyone stay at the Stein Inn or the inn run by the Three Chimneys? An other suggestions are welcome.

I didn't stay there, but I've heard that the food is excellent. ; ) I did stay at The Picture House in Broadford a few years ago and enjoyed it. I was there for a photography workshop and they offered dinner as well as breakfast. The view from their sitting room was outstanding. They are right on the water and you can look for otters and other wild life. The owners are photographers. http://www.skyepicturehouse.com/

It is funny that you mention the Stein Inn. My wife and I walked past it last September. I did not think anyone would have heard of it. We did not go in it but it looked to be a 3-4 star hotel to me. The Waternish area of Skye is beautiful and remote. We were actually trying to find the Shilasdair Yarn Shop which is on down the road-end of the road. Nearby in Stein there is the Brae Fasach Gallery and Pottery shop run by a retired Welsh artist and Skyeskins exhibition tannery. Waternish is well off the beaten path but well worth seeing. If you are interested in out the way places, consider taking the Skye-Glenelg ferry to Glenelg. There is a pub/Inn there that looked similar to the Stein Inn. The drive out is over a high mountain pass-Ratagan pass- on a single lane road- typical for Scotland which comes out near the Eilean Donan castle. Have fun.
