$100 is about 670 Swedish Kronor (SEK). It will be difficult to find a hotel room for that price. You might consider a private room in one of the youth hostels. The closest hostel to Gamla Stan is the af Chapman which is a ship docked on Skeppsholmen. It is about a 15 minute walk away. However, Stockholm has excellent public transportation and anywhere in the city would work. There is a hostel at Fridhemsplan that also offers hotel style rooms that could fit your budget (www.fridhemsplan.se). I'm not familiar with an B&Bs, so you might check a site like tripadvisor to see if they have any reviews for B&B or other budget options. The weather in May is variable. Usually daytime temperatures are in the 60s and night time is chilly. The weather underground website (wunderground.com) has a travel planner where you can plug in your city and trip dates and it will give you historical temperatures for the last 10 years or so.

Try www.airbnb.com to find inexpensive lodging options. The transportation system in Stockholm is excellent and easy to use, so you don't have to stay in Gamla Stan. Twice I have stayed in Sodermalm, just two subway stops away from Gamla Stan. It is a great area, lots of great bars and restaurants. If you will be there for a few days get a Stockholm Card, gives you unlimited use of the transit system, very good value.
