Lodging Hastings, Tunbridge Wells

Can anyone suggest places to stay at Hastings or Tunbridge Wells that are inexpensive? I will be traveling April 2012.

We stayed in Tunbridge Wells so we could get our car back to Gatwick the next morning. We always just check to local Tourist Information Office and pick a B & B in our price range that is non smoking with the best rating. We've never had a bad one that way.

We stayed once at the Russell Hotel in Royal Tunbridge Wells - it's in a great location but was kind of tackey - though inexpensive. This year we will be staying at a small B&B in Offham, which is a bit further east. Never stayed there before, but the comments from people staying there are great, and it's only 55 pounds a night - Little Quintain - look it up. I was unable to get a place for this September in Royal Tunbridge Wells, so we are staying 15 minutes south at Hopgarden House in Lamberhurst - inexpensive, but never been there before - we will see.

Thanks for suggestions. I should have mentioned that I will be traveling by train so choices for lodging are pretty much limited to central areas or near the train.

The Russell Hotel is right in Royal Tunbridge Wells - I just don't where from the train station(?) It has been about 5 years since we stayed there. We stayed in Hastings once and the Tourist Bureau found us a place, so I agree with the other poster - you could probably go through them.

Yes, the Rusell Hotel looks very good and as soon as I have my plans firmed up I will check for availability.

I just noticed that the Russell Hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station.
