We're going to go England in May, and we want to spend a couple days in Liverpool. Has anyone been there lately, and found any nice B&B's or very reasonably priced hotels? We want to explore the various Beatle's sites. Any advice on that?

Linda, just last evening I was reading up on Liverpool. There's a newish hotel in Liverpool - base2stay - and if I get to Liverpool I want to stay there. I stayed in their Kensington hotel for 10 days in 2009 and it's still one of my all time favorite hotels. Their Liverpool rates look pretty good. The concept of base2stay is to cut out the hotel facilities that only a few guests use - including an in-house kitchen/dining room - and concentrate on quality in the amenities that are provided. We are also going to Liverpool in May (our third visit). I've stayed in the past at the Aachen, which was fine, and then the Premier Inn in the Albert Dock (a little more expensive but not too bad). This time we booked the Premier Inn Liverpool One, which is near to the Albert Dock and a bit cheaper than their other location. The prepaid, no refund rate was very good. Friends of ours got a terrific rate at the Hampton Hilton in Liverpool.

base2stay in my experience is pretty cheap weekdays but much more expensive for Fri-Sun.
