In hand luggage, no container of liquid, gel or aerosol may be more than 100ml.
In checked luggage, you can take what you want.
The above is for the airlines. There are no restrictions anywhere else.
All of your 100ml bottles must fit in a single liter-size plastic bag, and must be presented separately when going through security.
I saw signs at San Francisco airport stating that the limit is 3 oz.; 100 ml is close to 3.5 oz. Maybe it is best to play it safe and limit yourself to 3 oz containers. In checked luggage, these limits don't apply.
Most cologne/after shaves come in 100 ml sizes. For the TSA, this is acceptable - I believe you will see this on their website.
Other countries may have different requirements. For example, in the US I am able to carry a small pair of scissors in my carry on but wasn't allowed to carry this on in Singapore. They put it in an envelop and handed it to the crew and was available to me at my destination.
The European limit is 100ml, the US equivalent of that rule is 3 oz. However, the rules are loosening somewhat, and I have seen 3.5 oz. listed as acceptable. Since Michael is traveling from Australia and asking about the ml limit, he probably can't get oz. sizes anyway.
Hi Michael. As a fellow Aussie traveller, you are limited to 100ml containers. For example on a Dubai stopover, when I bought perfume and after shave as gifts, I had to limit my purchase to the 50ml.bottles which were removed from their original packing/box in the Duty Free shop and put into a clear plastic zip lock bag.
the 3 oz/100 ml rule is interchangeable depending on the country you are in.
In the U.S., we don't use metric so saying 100ml would confuse a lot of people. And vice-versa overseas where ounces aren't used.
TSA will accept either 3 oz or 100 ml. So will just about everyone else.
I believe that although the US airline restrictions state 3 oz, the actual amount is 3.4 oz.
