Hello to all,
I have received my conformation for RS's London 2013 in Sept. I will be in London three days early, lots that I want to see that's not on the tour. I need to find a hotel to call home for a bit before the rest of my tour arrives. The RS people have already told us that we will be staying at Lime Tree Hotel. So, do you think it would be out of line if I spend three days on my own at TLH? I want to find the bronze statues of Franklin D Roosevelt and Winston Churchill sitting on a bench in Mayfair and have my picture taken with 'em. If I can I plan on searching for The London Stone too. Going to Warner Brothers Studo, a train ride to Oxford to spend the day. Thank you, Cathy

Hi Catherine, My husband and I have stayed at the Lime Tree Hotel and we loved it! If you are meeting your group there why not just check in there and be done with it? we had a twin room on the main floor so did not have to climb stairs and we had a little outside patio all to ourselves. We had missed Rick's visit by a few days but the registration person told us that Rick had asked if anybody he had suggested was staying in the hotel at the time and there was a couple.....so he knocked on their door to say hello and they almost fainted in surprise!! We found the area swell and the restaurant on the corner had wonderful food! All Best, Mollie

Another recommendation for Lime Tree. Stayed there in Sept 2010. Like the previous poster, I had a ground floor room right near the reception desk. Would recommend getting upstairs to avoid early noise. Breakfast is lovely, as is decor.

We have stayed at the Lime Tree twice and plan another in June. It is very nice, in a quiet neighborhood, and a reasonable walk to Victoria Station.

Cathy, Stay at the lime tree and eliminate the trouble of moving from one place to the next, packing up, unpacking again, and so forth. In the past we have always let the tour hotel know we were joining a RS trip. Not sure how much that helps, but with one exception we've always been able to get a booking.

Yes, go early and stay at the Lime Tree. They send you the hotel information this early so you can book a room for an early arrival or extra days at the end. The information from RS should include contact telephone numbers, e-mail and/or web addresses. The guide book should have a page for sending a fax to the hotel just put the same info into an e-mail. Be sure to tell them your are with an RS tour.

Hello to All, After reading and taking in your replies. I well be booking my three "before" days at Lime Tree. I have booked a Warner Bro. Lev. tour with Golden Tours, by staying at LT and if the map is correct, I will be walking three blocks to get to their bus terminal. Thank you, Cathy
