LHR terminal 5 arrival, transport options to Farringdon Sta

Thanks in advance for advice/info on transport into London for my noon arrival end of April into LHR's terminal 5 with Farringdon as my destination station. I'm traveling alone, will have carryon plus personal bag to tote. Not inclined to use priciest Heathrow Express option plus no time constraints to push me to the speediest-into-the-city choice. How do I take shuttle from terminal 5 to Heathrow Central, so as to take Heathrow Connect to Paddington? Am I correct I would choose either Circle or Hammersmith & City line to reach Farringdon?

Theresa, you must be arriving on the BA flight from Seattle. We will be doing the same later in the year. My understanding is that you use the Heathrow Express (for free) as the shuttle link from T5 to Heathrow Central to pick up Heathrow Connect to Paddington. I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

You might want to consider taking the tube. That would be my choice. It will cost a lot less and it could even get you to Farringdon quicker than Connect plus tube. The tube will take just a little over an hour. Take the Piccadilly line to Kings Cross and then transfer to either the Metropolitan, Circle, or Hammersmith&City line and go one stop to Farringdon. I don't think the Heathrow Connect plus tube is going to be much faster. The Connect takes 30 minutes plus the time you have to wait (up to 30 minutes). The transfer from the train to the tube platform is another 5 to 10 minutes and the tube will take another 20 minutes or so.

One more thing ... If you happen to be staying in that area, I recommend Vinoteca on St John Street ... good food and wine.

If your journey is on a weekend make sure that the Circle line isn't shut down for CrossRail work. Even if the Circle line is working sometimes Farringdon Station is closed for CrossRail work on weekends.
